I'm not your typical real estate agent.
I don't wear a tie except to weddings and funerals. I don't plaster my picture on yard signs because shameless self promotion really bothers me. I am humble. I choose to stay home with my kids 2 days per week. I'm not proud of being a REALTOR in title; c'mon, it only took a 4 hour ethics course to "earn" that title. I give my honest opinion when people ask for it; I don't just tell people what they want to hear. I'm not good at BS, nor do I enjoy the act or process of "selling." I'm not into fashion or looks; I'm into usefulness and common sense.
All of this makes me an unlikely candidate to be a real estate agent, but I enjoy my work immensely. Offering real estate services at affordable prices is a growing need. My clients are thrilled that I do what I do, and that is a huge incentive for me. Running Discount Realty Works is the intersection of three areas of interest for me: real estate, technology, and marketing.
I am motivated by money, but I am more motivated by growing my business over the long term and helping people save money when they buy or sell.
Regardless of what else has happened in a given day, a day I meet with a new client is invariably a good day.
That's how I know I'm doing what I was meant to do.
