Houses for Sale in Eau Claire, WI

The houses for sale in Eau Claire, WI are representative of the city's affordable housing and simultaneous high standards of living. This alone makes it a great place to live, work, play, and raise a family, among other things. Here residents and future homeowners can enjoy an ideal combination of urban and rural lifestyles day to day.

The Eau Claire real estate market is quite stable compared to higher growth areas like the Twin Cities to the west. Minneapolis/St. Paul and the surrounding suburbs saw great appreciation in home values in the 1990s and early 2000s, but were hit hard by the housing bubble. Comparatively, Eau Claire property prices have not dropped as much, probably because they weren't overpriced in the first place.

The Eau Claire, WI Community

It's always fascinating to hear how residents end up living in Eau Claire, WI and become part of the community. Some believe it to be a big city, while others feel it's miles away from anywhere. Perhaps Eau Claire has a split personality, and which side you see depends on your own point of view.

For example, some Eau Claire homebuyers relocate here from smaller towns found all over Northwestern Wisconsin because there are more economic opportunities, yet they can still stay close to their roots. Others relocate to Eau Claire from larger metropolitan areas because they're tired of the congestion, crime, and dirtiness of larger cities.

Eau Claire's Natural Wonders

Eau Claire gives its residents many opportunities to enjoy nature and active, outdoor lifestyles throughout the year. Putnam Park is a 200-acre wildlife preserve located just within city limits, known to house bald eagle nests, while Archery Park has a rugged, narrow walking trail for locals to weave over bluffs along the Eau Claire River.

It's not hard to find yourself "out of town” either—a quick 15-minute drive south on Hwy 93 allows people to take in panoramic hilltop views. Residents who love to go fishing or take part in water recreation can drive just six miles west to Elk Creek Lake or 15 miles north to the 6300-acre Lake Wissota.

Going further up north will eventually take you to the Blue Hills and hundreds of other smaller lakes. Many residents find that a 10-mile drive east of Eau Claire on Hwy Q to get to the rumbling Big Falls and the Eau Claire County Forest is completely worth it.
